If you look carefully you see that each new y value is obtained by adding 2/5 to the previous one. That 4/5 came from adding 2/5 to 2/5.

If we move from x = 0 to x = 1, y increases from 6/5 to 8/5.

Thus: the "run" is 1; the "rise" is 2/5.

Thus, the slope is m = rise / run = 2/5 divided by 1, or just m = 2/5
