Once Mexico established itself as an independent nation, it struggled. One reason was that there was no consistency on the type of leadership that Mexico kept. Government leadership roles ranged from emperors to presidents to dictators. Another problem facing Mexico was that many political powers were fighting for control and there were several military takeovers that caused great instability and multiple changes in regulations for the people. This caused great anger among the citizens of Mexico and the settlers in Texas.
