Given co-ordinates:

  • (2,12) and (4,7

We could easily find the slope through the formulae of slope, that is:


\rm \: m(slope) = \cfrac{y_2 -y_1 }{x_2 - x_1}

According to the question we can identify:


  • \rm (y_2,y_1) = (7,12)

  • \rm (x_2,x_1) = (4,2)

Plug the values into the slope formulae:


\rm \: m = \cfrac{7 - 12}{4 - 2}


\rm \: m = \boxed{\cfrac{ - 5}{2}} = \boxed{ - 2.5}

Therefore the slope is -5/2 or -2.5.
