A section of the grocery store displays water bottles. The bottles come in packages of 6 or 8. Let x represent the number of 6-bottle packages, and let y represent the number of 8-bottle packages. The total number of packages displayed is 270, and the total number of bottles are 1860. To find the values of x and y, which of the following systems of equations would you use? Show your work

So for this question you need to create your own simultaneous equations.

The total number of packages is x + y
So you get x + y = 270

The total number of bottles is 6 x the number of 6 bottle packages + 8 x the number of 8 bottle packages, so you get
6x + 8y = 1860.

Then you solve:
X + y = 270
x6
6x + 6y = 1620
6x + 8y = 1860
Take them away
2y = 240 so y= 140

Then solve for x
X+ y = 270
X + 140 = 270
X = 130
