Answer:

0.31 m/s

Explanation:

First race :

Distance = 5km = (5 * 1000) = 5000 meters

Time taken = 36 minutes, 15 seconds = (36*60) + 15 = 2,175 seconds

Speed rate = distance / time

Rate = 5000 / 2175

= 2.298

= 2.3 ms^-1

2nd race :

Distance = 5km = (5 * 1000) = 5000 meters

Time taken = 31 minutes, 55 seconds = (31*60) + 55 = 1,915 seconds

Speed rate = distance / time

Rate = 5000 / 1915

= 2.298

= 2.61 ms^-1

Change in rate : (2nd race speed - 1st race speed)

= (2.61 - 2.30) m/s

= 0.31 m/s

= (0.31 / 1000)km * 3600 = 1.116 kmh

Answer:

0.2km/h

Explanation:

The question is not properly presented, nevertheless, we can wrap our heads around it.

Firstly, let us solve for the initial speed

given

distance= 5km

time taken= 36 min 15 seconds

time= 36.25min to hours 0.60hours

speed= distance/time

speed= 5/0.6

speed= 8.3 km/h

10 week later

distance= 5km

time taken= 31 min 55 seconds

time= 36.91min to hours 0.62hours

speed= distance/time

speed= 5/0.62

speed= 8.1 km/h

Therefore the change in rate(speed) is =8.3-8.1= 0.2km/h
