Step-by-step explanation:

Selective media are used for the growth of selected microorganisms. The media are usually enriched with certain chemicals and or nutrients.

Example is a microorganism that is resistant to a certain antibiotic such as ampicillin, this antibiotic can be added to the medium to prevent other cells which do not possess the resistance from growing.

Factors to consider includes

Nutritional requirements - Nutritional requirements of the microrganism should be known before a media is prepare to ascertain quantity and type of material to be added.

Additives - media such as selective media requires certain additives such as chemicals which should be well known this include the proportion to be used.

Preparation - media preparation requires an individual that is skilled in it and this must be considered before preparation.

Storage - Good storage facility should be available for storage of media after preparation to provide an enabling environment for growth.
