in the mid 1800s, native americans were an obstacle to european americans westward expansion which was overcome by technology and by force, as well as excused by a sense of ideological superiority

Yes this is true although the natives were there first so from their POV this was a very violent sad confusing time because they had different ways of life Americans often took from nature (such as animals trees resources, etc.) and sometimes more than they need and weren’t always friendly or shared while the natives were kind and only took what they needed but because of they’re differences they eventually started wars but since Americans were more advanced the issue for them was overcome with weapons and force
