because while covering 2/12ths of a wall you used a whole gallon of paint so if 1 gallon covers 2/12ths of a wall you have 10/12ths left and s you already used 1 so it would leave you with 5 gallons and 10 divided by 2 is 5 which would give you your answer 6 gallons and there are 4 quarts in a gallon so you would multiply 6 *4 = 24
