The Spanish had several reasons for exploring and colonizing America. One reason was the pursuit of wealth. They were looking for gold, silver, and other precious metals. They discovered that the New World was rich in resources that could be used to enrich their country. The Spanish took advantage of this opportunity and established colonies in America.
