But if we look further, we also know that the area of a rectangle is A = b*h. So the area of a rectangle is twice that of a triangle. And this is always true as long as the dimensions are the same. So here, the shaded region is just (14*5)/2 which is 35. We can also find this out by calculated the area of a rectangle and minus the area of the rectangle.
