Speed = distance / time

Distance of 3.375miles against 2 mph wind

Let skate speed = x

skate speed - wind speed=

(3.375 miles / t) + 2mph = x - - - (1)

Distance of 6.375miles with 2 mph wind

(6.375 miles / t) - 2 mph = x - - - - (2)

Equate (1) and (2)

(6.375/ t) - 2 = (3.375/ t) + 2

(6.375 - 3.375) / t = 2 + 2

3 / t = 4

3 = 4t

t = 3/4

t = 0.75

Hence, speed without wind will be :

(3.375 miles / 0.75) + 2mph = x

4.5mph + 2mph = 6.5 mph
