Sum of two angles that are supplementary = 180°

Let the first angle be x .

Then the other angle = x + 40

Measure of each angle =

x + x + 40 = 180

2x + 40 = 180

2x = 180 - 40

2x = 140°

x = (140)/(2)

x = 70°

Which means :-

The first angle:-

= x = 70°

The second angle :-

x + 40

70 + 40

= 110°

Therefore , the two supplementary angles are 70° and 110° .
