A bag of apples contains 12 red apples. 40% of the apples in the bag are not red. how many apples are in the bag?

Explanation:

There are 40 apples in the basket, 30% of which are red. If we add 80 more apples, 40% of which are not red, what percent of the total number of apples are red?

First there are 40 apples in basket out of which 30% i.e. 12 apples are red.

Secondly 80 more apples are added and 40% are not red i.e. 32 apples are not red . So, (80 - 32 = 48) are red in the added apples.

Then, final number of apples = 120

final number of red apples = 48 + 12 = 60

Hence percentage of red apples finally = 60/120 * 100% = 50%
