there are 4 swimmers. amy swam 2 more laps than sean. katie swam twice as many laps as sean. tom swam 4 more laps than katie. all together the 4 swimmers swam a total of 78 laps. how many laps did sean swim?

Sean swam 12 laps.

Explanation:

Let S represent Sean

Let S+2 represent Amy

Let 2S represent Katie

Let 2S + 4 represent Tom

Now add together and set it equal to 78

S + S+2 + 2S + 2S+4 = 78

6S + 6= 78

6S=72

S=12
