An earthquake is the sudden movement of earths crust. Earthquakes occur along fault lines, cracks in earths crust where tectonic plates meet. They occur where plates are subducting, spreading, slipping or colliding. As the plates grind together they get stuck and pressure then builds up.

Answer:

Wassup! XD

Step-by-step explanation:

As the plates move past each other, they sometimes get caught and pressure builds up. When the plates finally give and slip due to the increased pressure, energy is released as seismic waves, causing the ground to shake. This is an earthquake. Some of the plates have ocean water above them.

hope this helps chief!
