The correct answer is: when a current flows in a wire a magnetic field is set up around the wire. The field is circular without poles. If the current in heading away from you the magnetic field is clockwise and if the current is coming towards you the field is anti-clockwise. If the current is constant the strength of the magnetic field is also constant.
