  • 4x + 6y = 86

  • 5x + 6y + 86 = 180 ⇒ 5x + 6y = 94

Comparing the two equations

  • 6y = 86 - 4x and 6y = 94 - 5x
  • 86 - 4x = 94 - 5x
  • 5x - 4x = 94 - 86
  • x = 8

Finding y

  • 6y = 86 - 8*4
