Liam is setting up folding chairs for a meeting. If he arranges the chairs in 5 rows of the same length, he has 3 chairs left over. If he arranges the chairs in 3 rows of that same length, he has 15 left over. How many chairs does Liam have?

Answer:

33 chairs

Explanation:

c= chairs per row

5 rows of (c) chairs plus 3 chairs is equal to 3 rows of (c)chairs plus 15 chairs)

5c +3 = 3c +15

2c=12

c= 6 ( 6 chairs per row)

5x6 = 30

30+3 = 33

3x6=18

18+15 = 33
