During the light-dependent reaction, it takes energy from the sun and converts it into chemical energy. This chemical energy is ATP and NADPH.
This is known as the first stage of photosynthesis. The light-independent reactions will then use the ATP and NADPH from the light-dependent reactions and essentially make glucose. This is also known as the Calvin cycle.
The Calvin cycle will use the enzymes and create sugar, or glucose, from the carbon dioxide. This can be put into three steps, fixation, reduction, and regeneration.
