A farmer is traveling down a trail with his dog (who is always hungry), two geese (who are also

always hungry), and three bags of grain. Soon, the trail leads into a river but begins again on
the other side. To get to the other side the farmer must wade across the river yet he can only
carry two of his six possessions at a time. The farmer knows that, if left together, the dog will
eat any or all of the geese and any of the geese will eat all the grain they can. How can the
farmer get all of his possessions to the other side of the river safely and uneaten?
