Think of an example like comparing
72 / 2 versus
72

I replaced the complicated stuff in the parenthesis with "72", and we're dealing with the same kind of problem.

Using a calculator or long division,
72 / 2 = 36 which is half of 72.

Dividing by 2 is the same as multiplying by the fraction 1/2


(1)/(2)*72 = 36 \ \text{ and } \ 72 / 2 = 36
