Carla builds the figure below in two separate layers. She uses cubes that are 1 centimeter on each side. She builds
her first layer with 3 rows of 3 cubes. She builds her next layer with 2 rows of 3 cubes.
What’s the volume in cubic centimeters

Answer: 15 cm^3

Explanation:

1st Layer = 3 Rows of 3 Cubes
=> 3 * 3 = 9 Cubes

2nd Layer = 2 Rows of 3 Cubes
=> 2 * 3 = 6 Cubes

Total no. of Cubes = 6 + 9 = 15
Edge of Cube (a) = 1 cm
Vol. of Cube = a^3

Therefore,
= a^3
= 1^3
= 1

Vol. of Cube = 1 cm^3

Vol. of Figure = Cube Vol. * No. of Cubes = 1 * 15
= 15

Vol. of Figure = 15 cm^3
