Haiku is a popular form of poetry in Japan. A
traditional haiku has nature as its theme (consider the influence of Shinto, the native Japanese religion) and has a strict three-line format of 5-7-5 syllables (see the link below). As a fun assignment, you will write two haiku poems. The first will follow haiku tradition with its topic something to do with nature (sun, moon, day, night, weather, trees, rivers, animals, etc.).
