I may be incorrect but genetics and natural selection are my passion so I believe this is correct. The way genes work is you receive half of your father's genes and half of your mothers. Whichever genes are dominant end up showing up on your body, which is called a phenotype. DNA is what makes up genes and makes them able to affect you. Let me know if I'm incorrect.
