SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS QUESTION !!!

Slope can be thought of as the average rate of change in one quantity per unit change in another.
Use the concept of slope to answer the following question: The price of computers has been dropping
for the past ten years. If a desktop PC cost $6000 ten years ago and the same computing power
cost $300 two years ago find the rate of decrease per year. Assume that a linear model applies and
round your answer to the nearest cent.

Answer:

$700

Explanation:

Given that:

Cost of desktop PC 10 years ago = $6000

Cost of desktop PC 2 years ago = $300

Linear model applies.

To find the rate of decrease per year, we need to find the slope.

One quantity is cost of PC here and second quantity here is number of years.

\text{Rate of decrease per year = }\frac{\text{Change in Price}}{\text{Change in Number of years}}

\Rightarrow (6000-300)/(10-2)\\\Rightarrow (5700)/(8)\approx \bold{\$700}

So, the answer is:

There is a decrease of $700 per year.

OR

Rate of decrease per year is $700.
