The religious group that founded the Massachusetts

Bay colony is the Purtitans.

In 1628 a group of Puritans, led by John Winthrop and Thomas Dudley, persuaded King James to grant them an area of land between the Massachusetts Bay and Charles River in North America.

Quite different from the Pilgrims, the Puritans came here a few years later (1630) as much for economic reasons as for the opportunity to create a religious community with like-minded souls.
