Imagine that you’re a geographer and an urban planner, and you’re helping to plan a new shopping mall for your town. You discover that most shopping malls exist in areas with large human populations, such as in cities and large towns. Describe how you would use geography’s three important questions to help you understand why this happens.

You might start with the first question geographers ask - “what.” It would be important to ask, “What is a shopping mall, and what is one like?” Then, you might ask, “Where are shopping malls located?” Finally, you might ask, “Why there?" or, in other words, “Why are shopping malls located in these areas with large populations?” Asking these three questions should help you understand why this is taking place.
