Three consecutive numbers have a sum of -33. What is the lowest of the numbers?

- 12

Explanation:

The easy way to set this up is to take the middle number to be x

(x - 1) + x + (x + 1) = - 33

x - 1 + x + x + 1 = - 33

3x = - 33

x = -33/3

x = - 11

the lowest number is going to be x - 1 = -11 -1 = - 12

The middle number = - 11

The largest number = - 11 + 1 = - 10
