Answer:

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended discrimination in the workplace. Being discriminated against in the application process on the basis of race, color, or national origin was not allowed. However, the law did not address voting harassment and many other barriers faced by African Americans (such as poll taxes which limited the participation of blacks in elections).
