I think this is the answer because if there where monopolies in our country then the prices of consumer goods would go way up. If there aren't monopolies and there are like 5 different people making phones or tablets then the prices of those goods are going to be lower. This is because of competition. Competition makes one company that makes phone sell a phone for 600 dollars and when company 2 comes out with there phone they may price it at 550 dollars so that people will buy their product instead of company 1. This would make our economy fail and no one would be able to afford anything.
