If someone charges 18 cents per square inch for frames how much will they charge for a frame that measures 16 inches on each side and has a width of 2 inches

If the frame that measures 16 inches from each sides has a width of 2 inches the length and width of the internal picture will be 4 inches smaller than that of the frame itself is shown below.

Length of the picture in the frame = 16 inches - ( 2inches + 2 inches)

Length of the picture in the frame = 16 inches -4 inches

Length of the picture in the frame = 12 inches

Width will also be 12 inches

Area of the entire frame (plus picture) = 16 * 16 = 256 in²

Area of the picture = 12*12 = 144in²

Area of the frame only = 256 - 144

Area of the frame only = 112 in²

If the frames are charged 18 cents per square inch, a frame with 112 square inches will be charged (18*112) cents 2016 cents
