These political parties get elected and form a government.

They play a decisive role in the making process of the country.

Parties that lose in the elections too have an important role to play. They voice different views and criticize government for its failures or wrong policies.

They shape public opinion and raise various issues faced by the public. Sometimes political parties launch movements for the resolution of problems faced by people.

For an ordinary citizen it is easy to approach a local party leader than a government officer. That is why they feel close to parties even when they do not fully trust them
