Answer: 320 in^2 (320 inches squared)

Step-by-step explanation: An easy way to find the area of odd shapes like this is to cut it into segments. Note how if you draw a line in between the side section and the main section, you would end up with two perfect squares. The bigger square has a 16 inch side, so you multiply 16 by 16 to find it's area: 256. The smaller square has a side length of 8, and 8 times 8 is 64. Add these two numbers to get 320 in^2, the answer. Like I said earlier, you can do this with all odd shapes, so long as the measurements are provided.
