5x² + 10x - 1 = 0

completing the square method :

for quadratic equation of the format ax² + bx + c = 0 ,

step 1, divide equation by a

therefore. dividing the equation by 5

=> x² + 2x - (1/5) = 0

=> x² + 2x = 1/5

c - 2b/4 = -1/5 - (2(2)/4) = -(6/5)

b/2 = 1

=> x² + 2x +1 = 6/5

=> (x + 1)² = 6/5

=> x = (√6/√5) - 1
