It is true that the only way to change the Constitution and adapt it to new circumstances and social/political realities is through amendments. The process to amend the US Constitution is not an easy one. Members of Congress have to send the amendment to the states, once the amendment was approved by 2/3 by the House of Representatives and the Senate.
