Explanation:

3x - 8 = -2

3x = -2 + 8

3x = 6

x = 6/3

x = 2

so, therefore x - 6 => 2 - 6 = -4

x-6 = -4

Explanation:

Add 8 to each side

3x - 8+8= -2+8

3x = 6

Divide by 3

3x/3 = 6/2

x =2

We want to find x-6

2-6 = -4
