Let

Width=x

Length=2x

Area = 288 square feet

Area of the garage = Length × width

288 = 2x * x

288= 2x^2

Divide both sides by 2

288 / 2 = x^2

144= x^2

Find the square root of both sides

√144 = √x^2

12 = x

Therefore,

x=12

The dimensions will be:

Width = x

= 12

Length = 2x

=2(12)

=24

Width = 12 foot

Length = 24 foot
