Please help! The answer should be equal to 12 cans, but I'm not sure how to get that answer. Heres my question :)

Diana wants to make several cans with a diameter of 6 inches and a height of 8 inches. She is going to cut the cans from a sheet of metal that has an area of 2,675 in2

Answer:

Explanation:

im gonna try my best to explain and get an answer since this question is vague :D

to find the area of a cylinder (the shape of the can): A=2πrh+2πr2

since theres no stated radius you have to divide the diameter by 2 to solve.

so plug it in from the equation above

the cans she is trying to make will all have an area of 207.4 (rounded to nearest tenth/not rounded is 207.35)

207 x 12 = 2,484.

so diana can make 12 cans using 2,484 in out of the sheet of metal she is using.

hope this helps in someway.
