So for this problem you have to convert inches to miles and it shows you how for every 2in you get 3 miles so you have 3 set of two for you width so you multiply 3x3 to get 9 same thing apply to your length you have to convert it and it does give you a decimal so convert what you can you have two sets you can convert so 3x2 which is 6 now you are left with the .5 well if half of 2 is 1 and half of 3 is 1.5 you would know with 1 in would equal to 1.5 and you break it down more .5 is half of 1 so now you divide 1.5 to get .75 and you add it to the 6 you got earlier so now your width is 9 and you length is 6.75 you then multiply and get an area of 60.75 seeing the length and width you can see Melinda was wrong now to see if Andrew is right you have to find the 30% so first you want to set up the fractions which will be 30/100 and x/60.75 the x in the equation represents the 30 percent that is missing and the 60.75 and the 100 is the whole thing so you then multiply 60.75•30 and end up with 1822.5 and divide it with 100 to get the 30% the farmers own which comes out to 18.225 which makes Andrew correct
