x^10 - 1 = (x^5+1)(x^5-1)
= (x^5+1)(x)(x^2+1)(x^2-1)
= (x^5+1)(x)(x^2+1)(x+1)(x-1)

See that (x-1) is one of the factors after the factorization. This proves it.
