Explanation:


\sqrt[5]{x} is the same thing as
x^{(1)/(5)}.

Now if we have
x^{(1)/(5)} to the power of 9, the exponents are multiplied.


x^{(1)/(5) \cdot9} = x^{(9)/(5) }.
