The rising action is when something bad is happening in the story

  • The character face something bad
  • It brings tension to the climax

Answer:

In literature, a common way of writing is following the Hero's Journey or the Dramatic Structure in plays and film. The rising action, to me, is a series of incidents in a literary plot that build-up towards the climax and the point of the greatest interest. This is done by putting obstacles in the hero's way to create tension.
