We have 8 upside U's in the water, and the width of each one is 86 meters, and 86 * 8 = 688 meters.

There are also 9 supports total, each one having a width of 2 meters, and 9 * 2 = 18.

If we add 18 to 688 we get 706 m, assuming that the outer edges of each end support is right where the water begins at one end and right where it ends at the other.
