The reason is that first, my effectiveness and job as the supervisor of such a wasteful team will be questioned and will be at risk, and I stand to lose a lot if I do not do anything about it. Requesting for a change of some of the team member won't fix the problem, the members that are retained in the team will still pass this wasteful culture to the new team members, which would not justify the change. Bringing in a fresh batch of workers will allow me set the new standard, and enforce the new standard, which will be to minimizing defective products and waste.
