As shown in the table, you have: x + y = 160

Otherwise, you have x:y = 3:5 or x = 3y/5

=> 3y/5 + y = 160

or 8y/5 = 160

or y/5 = 20

or y = 20*5 = 100

=> x = 160 - y = 160 - 100 = 60

=> x = 60 and y = 100

Basically u add both of x and y and u get 160 and x and y are 80 so u subtract 80 from each total and thats the answer for the blanks on your paper
