perimeter of square is given by 4*side\

Thus, perimeter of square iwh side x = 4x

Given

length of each side of a square increases by 2.5

new side length of square = x +2.5

New perimeter of the square = 4*( x +2.5) = 4x + 10

given that new perimeter = 70 inches

Thus,

4x + 10 = 70

4x = 70 - 10 = 60

x = 60/4 = 15

Thus, length of each side of original square was 15 inches.
