The volume of the cube is 1/8^2 units.

A cube consists 6 squares. Squares can be easily be recognized because of one trait, they have equal side lengths on all 4 sides.

By knowing that a cube consists of only squares, you can immediately figure out that all sides of the cube are also 1/2 unit.

The formula for a cube is l*w*h. With that being said you then would multiply 1/2 by itself three times. This can be written out as 1/2*1/2*1/2 or 1/2^3 (which is why the exponent 3 is considered “cubed”.)

Multiplying 1/2 by itself three times will then look like this: 1/2*1/2=1/4*1/2=1/8 or just 1/2*1/2*1/2=1/8
