What is the difference between using a sample and using a census (population survey)? When is it appropriate to use one or the other?

Answer:

census is a total of the population of a county and/or state.

samples are random selections of people or things

Explanation:

If Sky wanted to get a survey from 100 kids who liked baseball or softball in her school. She would not pick the first 100 because it is not random. She would choose choose kids at random till she got her quota.
