Similar technologies related to irrigation and farming have completely changed the landscape of countries like Canada.

Humans have now been able to create artificial rain through cloud production and our ingenuity led to the development of completely new seaways through Panama and Suez Canal.

Areas like the Indus Valley Civilization (India), Egypt and China developed advanced civilizations first. Yes, geography played an important role.
