Why is Greenland cold enough to have an ice sheet, while North America is not?

The majority of Greenland is much further away from the equator than North America, causing the temperatures to drop to the point where an ice sheet is created. The further away a country is away from the equator, the less direct rays from the sun hit it. Countries closer to the equator are hit by more direct rays.

Hope this helps! :)
